1 May 2012 saw the grand opening of the new Arkivcentrum Syd (ACS). Visitors can view the contents of the archive on new, functional premises.
The principal organisers behind ACS are the Regional Archives in Lund, Lund University and Region Skåne. Other participating bodies include the archive organisation Lund City Archives, the County Police Authority in Skåne and Skånes arkivförbund (the Skåne Archive Association), as well as the genealogical research organisations DIS Syd and Skånes Genealogiska Förbund (the Genealogical Society of Skåne). A number of other organisations have joined in since 2012: Lunds biologiska museer (the Biological Museums of Lund) and Folklivsarkivet (the Folklore Archive).
ACS now accommodates 440 shelf-kilometres of documents.
The public areas include reading rooms with a total of 50 seats, conference and meeting rooms, a reference library, a reception area and a break room where refreshments can be purchased.
Dehumidifiers from DST and their local reseller, Skandiluft Avfuktarservice AB, were chosen when selecting equipment for the new archive. Two DST dehumidifiers were already installed at another archive. These proved to be very effective, and they were serviced very efficiently by Skandiluft Avfuktarservice.
Several large DST dehumidifiers from DST have been installed at Arkivcentrum Syd in Lund.
Museums and archives
Moisture poses a threat to the preservation of antiques and museum artefacts. Paintings, furniture, linens and other organic materials contain microorganisms which thrive and multiply if the ambient air has a high level of relative humidity. This can cause irreparable damage.
Vast numbers of artefacts to be put on display and preserved for future generations are kept at museums and archives. Of course, this makes stringent demands of a well controlled indoor climate.
Paintings, furniture, linens and other organic materials contain microorganisms which thrive and multiply if the ambient humidity is excessively high. Valuable metal artefacts preserved in museums may be damaged by oxidation and corrosion.
It is possible to regulate the relative humidity on the premises so as to avoid costly and complex restoration work. If relative humidity is restricted within certain ranges, microorganisms cannot thrive, bacteria cannot grow and corrosion cannot occur.

The slaughterhouse industry uses thousands of litres of water every day for cleaning its premises. This water has to go somewhere, but without risking product contamination.
Strict hygiene control is a must when food is handled. And this includes keeping tabs on moisture.
There are huge amounts of water in the slaughterhouse environment. The premises are ventilated with outdoor air, and additional water vapour is brought in during the humid summer months. A temperature of 1°C to 9°C is often maintained on slaughterhouse premises. When hot, moist outdoor air meets the cold air or cold surfaces on the premises, relative humidity is increased. A certain amount of moisture evaporates from the bodies of the animals and staff. This causes huge amounts of vapour and condensation on machines, ceilings and floors. Apart from the fact that the moisture increases the risk of contamination, it also makes the floors slippery. Drops of condensation from ceilings are of course unacceptable in environments in which foods are produced.
Controlling the level of moisture results in a drier, more consistent climate all year round. It prevents condensation and also considerably reduces drying times on premises which have been cleaned. It also ensures a much improved indoor climate for staff, as a drier chill is perceived to be less troublesome. If the air is dehumidified, there is less of a risk of slipping and the odours are not as strong. But above all, there is less of a risk of potential microbial growth, thereby allowing the quality of the products to be maintained.
Between June 11 and 13, you will be able to meet with Fuktbehandling AB in three different cities, all located in the western part of Sweden.

DST China was in attendance at this year’s Refrigeration exhibition in Pudong, Shanghai at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The event lasted 3 days from April 8th to April 10th.
DST China had an excellent time sharing our knowledge of desiccant dehumidification with visitors to the exhibition center. This also gave them the opportunity to speak with many people from all industries about their dehumidification interests and opportunities.
The Chinese branch of DST was able to bring 3 machines: The CFA-081R, RA-61R, A-30BP. The CFA unit was the hit of the show drawing a lot of attention to its ability to be adjusted to perfectly fit many specific situations.
DST staff from Changshu, Shanghai and Beijing were in attendance as well as several staff members from Sweden, Japan and the USA.
DST China has got the pleasure to deliver a large number of DST dehumidifiers to what will be the largest bridge in the world.
The HZMB, short for Hong-Kong/ Macao/ Zhuhai , will be 22.9km long.
This bridge will link the Hong Kong Region, Zhuhai City of Guangdong Province and Macao. It will also establish a new land transport link between the east and west coasts of the Pearl River.
The Main Bridge will be a dual 3-lane carriageway with a bridge-cum-tunnel structure form. It will run from the artificial island off Gongbei of Zhuhai to another artificial island just west of the Hong Kong boundary.

Why Dehumidify?
Drier air offers greater comfort at higher room temperatures. Lower humidity reduces growth of mold, fungus and bacteria, while creating a conductive environment for storage of most applications. Bacteria & mould requires a high humidity to survive and multiply. If the humidity is kept below 70 % RH, this will not occur.
Relative Humidity is a measure of how much moisture is in the air. It is the ratio that indicates the ability of the air to absorb more moisture, expressed in percent (%RH). The lower the percent, the lower the moisture content in the air and the greater the air’s ability to absorb more moisture. When the air reaches 100% RH, it reaches its satu-ration point and the water vapor turns to liquid, forming droplets of condensation.

The DC-50 has a similar housing to the DR-50 but runs with two fans.
The DC-50 has a resistive heater and needs a 3-phase supply. This unit is the right choice when you need to re-circulate air in a room and there is a large difference between moisture content of the air in a room and the air outside. As an option it is possible to control the capacity with a 0-10Vdc signal, for example from regulator EH3.
